Run Ad-Aware SE Personal (first) and SpyBot-Search & Destroy (second).
http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads31.html
After you install each, you should click update before running. For example,
with Ad-Aware click on the link "Check for updates now" on the first screen
that appears after you launch the application.

It's frustrating. I ran the fix for highjack but still can get the adapter
installed. XP reinstlll will be the last resort. I am running the adware
fixes again right now but it's possible they're missing something because
they are not the most up-to-date versions.

generic host process for win32 services encountered a problem

Running Win Server 2003 Enterprise SP1

Received this error today:
"Generic Host Process for Win32 Services encountered a problem and needs to
close."

The server is not available on the network. If I browse to the server via
My Network Places, I get \\,servername. is not accessible. You might not
have permission to use this network resource........The specified network
name is no longer available."

However, if I boot this server up in Safe Mode with Networking, I can get to
it!! I have noted two error that seem to be coming up also: DCOM 100016 and
Service Control Manager 7000. The CLSID the DCOM error points to is the WMI
component.

Are these two problems correlated and anyy ideas how to rectify?

RE: generic host process for win32 services encountered a problem

For anyone else, the solution that corrected the problem (remarkably enough)
was:
1. Turn OFF Automatic Windows Update
2. Connect to MS Windows Update (updated while I was there).
3. Turn Windows Automatic Update back on.

The server has not encountered anymore problems!

Thank you very much for this information as I have printed it out and will
post it to my sister that lives Interstate as she is always having trouble
with her PC.

Also. I have an issue I need to resolve ASAP. I no longer have my disc for
Microsoft Office 2000. I think I lost it in a move recently. Anyway, I can't
access my Excel Files and I have some very important information stored on
them that I need URGENTLY. I am having no luck at all trying to find and
download for FREE the VERSION 9.00.2720
I was wondering if you could possibly HELP ME PLEASE!
My personal email address is suesue @dodo.com.au just in case I won't be
able to find this site again.
