| no processes visible in task manager
Hello, I have the following problem on a win2k server sp4: Recently we sometimes get the following entries in the eventlog : PerfOS eventid 2012 Unable to get system process information from system. Status code returned is data DWORD 0. If you then look in task manager there are no processes running anymore...? After a while there are also 2 popups : winlogon.exe - Application Error : The application failed to initialize properly . csrss.exe - Unable To Locate DLL : The dynamic link library winsrv could not be found in the specified path Default Load Path. After these 2 popups I cannot execute any program anymore on the server except for windows explorer. The file access to the server over the network keeps on working though. PS : the problem always seems to start when someone is copying a large amount of data to or from this server. Any ideas? thanks, tom |

I have the same problem on W2k3 enterprise. I suspect its memory related but have not found a solution yet. we use 16gb of ram with /PAE and /3gb in the boot.ini. We run a couple of apps on the box inc SQL server ent (awe is enabled) and veritas backup exec. I've noticed the problem when using remote desktop as well. Eventually the box slows down to the point were large file transfers simply dont work (8GB and larger). I've found no information searching here or the web at large, any ideas out there? We have experienced an identical problem. Has anyone ever come up with an solution to this? Another item we noticed was that this registry key kept getting changed to a 1 even after setting it to a 0 multiple times. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Disable Performance Counters Any response would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ken Kal wrote: > I have the same problem on W2k3 enterprise. > I suspect its memory related but have not found a solution yet. > we use 16gb of ram with /PAE and /3gb in the boot.ini.
