Event ID 55: Please run the chkdsk utility on the volume VHD

Server 2008 SP1, Hyper-V Virtual Machines running on iSCSI LUNs.

Whenever a System State backup is performed (wbadmin start systemstatebackup
-backuptarget:d: -quiet), three System event errors are logged:

The file system structure on the disk is corrupt and unusable. Please run
the chkdsk utility on the volume VHD.

Not sure how to run chkdsk against "volume VHD".

The problem that you are facing might be happening because the application or the service combines cached I/O operations together with the noncached I/O operations by using the same NTFS file handle or so and that is why a supported hotfix is available to solve this issue. Follow the article on "Some data is corrupted when cached and noncached I/O operations occur by using the same NTFS file handle" from where you can download the hotfix from here - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/981166

There might be some corrupt system backup in WindowsImageBackup folder, so try to delete the backup directory by deleting WindowsImageBackup folder and all its contents and then re-run the backup. After that check if the problem persist or goes away. Or else download the hotfix that is mentioned in the above reply which will also help to solve this issue.

After searching I found out that this error occurs if any of the Apple software is corrupted in the computer. So first of all find all the apple software that is installed in your computer like Quicktime, MobileMe, iTunes, etc; and then uninstall those completely before restarting your pc. After restart check to make sure all apple related software is removed from Program files folder, if it is not then manually remove them. After that reinstall these software if you want and then check if the error has been solved or not.
