| Installing Server 2008 on RAID machine
I have server with embeded RAID controler. This is my server http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...odTypeId=15351. When trying to install windows 2008 64bit it shows me all disks (2x mirror, 2x stripe, so there is 2 arrays) but when selecting any field of them there is an error "setup cannot determinate disk..." and I can't continue with OS installation. What else should I need to change that be able install Windows Server 2008 operating system? Thnx |

Only thing that immediately comes to mind is you might need to slip stream in some drivers for your mass storage controller, or have it running in a mode that the native drivers do not understand. -- Nick ------------------------------------------------------------------ Networking tools -> http://www.infinites.com "Steve" <Steve@ggmmaaiill.com> wrote in message news:Or6tSd39JHA.4376@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... > > I have server with embeded RAID controler. SAS, SATA, Smart Array, etc? Is there a USB drive or device other than a keyboard or mouse, attached? If so, remove it or disable the ability to boot from it in the BIOS or change the boot sequence putting it last. Are you using an SP2 integrated version of Windows 2008? Sounds like a driver issue if not using HP's server installation DVD (Server Easy Set-up CD) or using the original 2008 DVD without it. Are you using HP's Rapid Deployment Pack or the HP ProLiant Support Pack? It's advised because of necessary drivers. I use Dell products, and whenever I setup a Dell server, I always use Dell's Installation and Server Manager so it installs the necessary drivers prior to asking for the DVD. I mean you *may* be able to get away without this utility, but if you do, I would try the installation using the latest SP2-integrated version of Windows.
