hard drive almost full

any ideas why my C drive is almost full? it's 80 gb. i know when i last
checked about 2 months ago it was less than a third full.
i know this is a wide open question. just wondering if anyone else has had
this weird problem lately.
i've scanned with NAV, scanned for unusually large files, run a few disk
cleaners. i don't know where else to look for problems.

By the way - it would be useful if you told us what operating system you
run.

Download TreeSize Free from jam-software and run that, opening it on your C
drive. It
will give you a very intuitive display showing where all your space has
gone. Once you know where the space has gone then you can start to think
about what to do with it.

i tried DriveUse and it locked up.

it was symantec\liveupdate folder
full of old downloads

SEPP, prior to version 11 MR4 would do that.
