| Win2k8 svr access denied when adding TCP/IP printer
Hi all, I have a Windows 2008 server x64 with the printer server role installed. I am trying to add the first printer so I enter the TCP/IP address and as soon as I click OK I get an Access Denied message. I do not see where this Access Denied message is coming from. It leaves nothing in the event log. There is no ACL on this printer. It is a basic TCP/IP printer. Why is it complaining? Thanks Pete |

Hi Meinholf > You work as administrator on the server? Yes my domain account is a member of a domain global group that is a member of the local Administrators group. This is why I'm confused why it is complaining about Access is denied. Nothing should be denied to an administrator. Can it not handle nested groups? thanks Pete |

| Re: Win2k8 svr access denied when adding TCP/IP printer And for some reason my remote desktop is no longer working even tho I have it turned on. I found this in the event log. But this happened in the middle of the night. I was not working on the server in the middle of the night. Well I see SP2 for Windows 2008 is out now. I installed it and it corrected both my problems. I can now RDP into my server and add a TCP/IP printer port. thanks Pete |

Install the Remote Server Admin tools for print and launch printmanagement.msc for any print related functions on server. -- Alan Morris Windows Printing Team Search the Microsoft Knowledge Base here: http://support.microsoft.com/search/?adv=1 This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
