could not sync no time data was available

I have a windows 2008 pdc (emulator) that is configured to get its time from
an internal linux server. When I run the following command I get the error
that a sync could not occur.

    C:\Users\adminuser.VGEI>w32tm /resync /rediscover Sending resync

    >> command to local computer The computer did not resync because no time

    >> data was available.

The next thing I tried was to manually set the time server from which to get
    the time on the pdc.

    >> C:\Users\adminuser.VGEI>w32tm /config /manualpeerlist:<linux machine IP>

    >> /syncfromfl ags:manual /reliable:yes /update The command completed

    >> successfully.

It appears to take the command, but the next command states otherwise

    >> C:\Users\Administrator.VGEI>w32tm /query /status Leap Indicator: 0(no

    >> warning)

    >> Stratum: 1 (primary reference - syncd by radio clock)

    >> Precision: -6 (15.625ms per tick)

    >> Root Delay: 0.0000000s

    >> Root Dispersion: 10.0000000s

    >> ReferenceId: 0x4C4F434C (source name: "LOCL") Last Successful Sync

    >> Time: 5/14/2009 4:06:15 PM

    >> Source: Local CMOS Clock

    >> Poll Interval: 6 (64s)

Please advise on how to correct.

    Hello VGE,

Is the linux machine also a domain member?

    Best regards

Re: could not sync no time data was available

The linux ntp server is not a domain member.
