| never noticed both an AMD64 and i386 folder on 2k3 x64 cd?
Hello, just wondering about both an AMD64 and an i386 directory on Windows Server 2003 x64 edition CDs (both enterprise and standard). If I just saw AMD64 I would have just thought, ok, its the 64bit edition, so theres 64bit source... but since I see both amd64 and i386 I was wondering exactly what the deal was? |

Hello James, Correct, the 32-bit files are copied to the syswow64 folder under Windows( as well as the program files (x86)folder ), which is the set of files that allows you to run 32-bit programs Thanks, Darrell Gorter[MSFT] This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights -------------------- | >From: "James" <noone@nowhere.com> | >References: <Oc3HvCIjJHA.4880@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl> <bxtzgvTjJHA.1704@TK2MSFTNGHUB02.phx.gbl> | >In-Reply-To: <bxtzgvTjJHA.1704@TK2MSFTNGHUB02.phx.gbl> | >Subject: Re: never noticed both an AMD64 and i386 folder on 2k3 x64 cd? | >Date: Thu, 12 Feb 2009 16:29:18 -0500 | >Lines: 53 | >MIME-Version: 1.0 | >Content-Type: text/plain; | > format=flowed; | > charset="iso-8859-1"; | > reply-type=original | >Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit | >X-Priority: 3 | >X-MSMail-Priority: Normal | >X-Newsreader: Microsoft Windows Mail 6.0.6001.18000 | >X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.0.6001.18000 | >Message-ID: <ur8N0kVjJHA.500@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl> | >Newsgroups: microsoft.public.windows.server.setup | >NNTP-Posting-Host: 64.106.208.194 | >Path: TK2MSFTNGHUB02.phx.gbl!TK2MSFTNGP01.phx.gbl!TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl | >Xref: TK2MSFTNGHUB02.phx.gbl microsoft.public.windows.server.setup:6054 | >X-Tomcat-NG: microsoft.public.windows.server.setup | > | >Hi Darrell, thanks for the reply. | > | >so why both?
