| performance monitor counters
We have two Windows Servers running on the Itanium platform inside a Microsoft cluster. When we open performance monitor on either node, and go to add a counter or object, the perfmon.exe process takes up about 50% of CPU and just starts taking memory. I've seen it take over 2GB of memory in about 15 minutes. The perfmon app just hangs and never allows us to add a counter. Has anyone come across anything like this before? I'm at a loss for what to do to try and track this one down. Thanks. |

Nothing at all unfortunately. I couldn't think of any other place to look for logs that would indicate the reason why trying to add a counter would cause the process to start chewing up resources. Any particular counter object? You might try removing and re-adding. Start|Run|exctrlst.exe -- Regards, Dave Patrick ....Please no email replies - reply in newsgroup. Actually its not a particular counter or object. In the perfmon window, when I click the + sign to add a counter, thats where it freezes and starts sucking up resources. I can't even get the list of counters to pull up. Iff I go and create a new counter log and click the button to add the first counter, I get the same results. What does that command you listed do? I will try running that and see hat happens. "Dave Patrick" wrote: > Any particular counter object? It just loads the performance counter listing tool. Probably won't help though. -- Regards, Dave Patrick ....Please no email replies - reply in newsgroup.
