Local Node Cluster unable to connect to share

Hi Cluster Experts,

I have a strange problem with my 2003 cluster environment that I hope someone could help me with.

I'm running a two node cluster.
The cluster resource is a Ip-Address, Hostname, and a disk.
This disk has a share.

The issue is that if the cluster group is running on Node1, Node1 is unable to connect to the share. I get prompted for a UserId passwd, and after typing in this I get an access denied error.
Node2 can access the share fine.

If I now move the resource to node2, Node2 then get the same issue as Node 1 had. Unable to connect to the share. Node 1 can access now the share fine.

Anyone any suggestions?

RE: Local Node Cluster unable to connect to share

Couple clarification points. You should have a virtual IP, virtual network
name, File Share resource and physical disk resource in one group. The
cluster group should not contain anything more than Cluster name, Virtual
IP, Quorum, and perhaps MSDTC. The clients should be connecting to the
file share resource using the virtual network network name defined for your
file share group. You must create the file share from cluster
administrator and not explorer. In 2008 fail over clustering, you can
create the share in explorer and enforcement is made on the setup of these
resources. The fact that things do not work based on the location of
cluster group lead me to believe that these best practices may not be
followed.

What happens when you repro the problem using LPC instead of RPC? Start- >
cluadmin space period. "cluadmin ."
