Problem with Volume Shadow Copy service

Good afternoon, I got a problem with a server with Windows 2003 server
R2. The service Volume Shadow Copy doesn’t work. It doesn’t start
automatically and if I try to start it manually I receive this
message:

"could not start the volume shadow copy service in local computer.
error 1053: the service did not respond to the start or control
request in a timely fashion."
If I check on the event viewer I find the following message:
DCOM got error "The service did not respond to the start or control
request in a timely fashion.
" attempting to start the service VSS with arguments "" in order to
run the server:
{E579AB5F-1CC4-44B4-BED9-DE0991FF0623}
Unfortunately if this service doesn’t work properly I can’t backup my
data. Does anyone has any suggestion on how I can troubleshooting and
solve the problem? Thank you very much for your help!

Hello OdlDevelop,

Do you use SP2 on the server or at least the lates update packages for the
VSS? There are known/solved issues with VSS.
