| Norton Ghost 8
I manage a windows server 2003 server that serves my network domain. Norton Ghost 8 is installed on this server so that i am able to image my machines through the network .... the ghost 8 program allowed me to network boot the client machine to prepare it for ghosting .... recently i tried to ghost a client machine and it would not network boot... I checked the network cabling and everything works ... jus wanted to know .. how to find the information on the Windows server that sends the boot infomation to the client machine.... i think this boot information is called sysprep .... if anyone know any information it would be greatly appreciated. That is a very useful accomplishment, and a very easy one, but people do not practise it much. In the every-day affairs of life it is more useful to reason forwards, and so the other comes to be neglected. There are fifty who can reason synthetically for one who can reason analytically." - Sherlock Holmes |

No it is not Sysprep. Sysprep is what you run after the machine has been freshly "built" using a stored image that allows you to rename the machine's name and re-create the SID to avoid SID conflicts. Some machines are just not capable of Network Booting,...or it just isn't enabled. -- Phillip Windell www.wandtv.com The views expressed, are my own and not those of my employer, or Microsoft, or anyone else associated with me, including my cats. ----------------------------------------------------- |

I did it before on the same model machines and it went fine ..... so I am thinking that something went wrong on the server ..... i don't remember how to configure the server so it distributes the boot image to a machine that is requesting it .... this is the problem i am having. |
