| Profile issues on some computers
Short version: 1-machine AD domain, served by Windows 2003. (may or may not be relevant:) FSMO roles were incorrectly assigned to an old non-existent server for between 30 and 45 days when the following issue started. On some, but not all, windows XP machines users were suddenly unable to use their roaming profiles and instead get temp profiles. Events are below, but they're basically the standard "windows cannot copy file..." errors. Yet the profiles worked fine from other machines, and all profiles do not work on three of the machines in the domain. Troubleshooting attempted so far: modified profiles on server, made sure ownership and traverse permissions, etc, were correct. Also on one machine tried: 1) unjoin the domain (reboot) 2) rename the machine (reboot) 3) rejoin the domain (reboot.) Same error messages. Relevant event log entries follow: Event Type: Error Event Source: Userenv Event Category: None Event ID: 1509 Date: 7/3/2008 Time: 6:23:15 PM User: ADM\progge Computer: PR Description: Windows cannot copy file \\enterprise\profiles\progge\Start Menu\Programs\Windows Media Player.lnk to location C:\Documents and Settings\progge\Start Menu\Programs\Windows Media Player.lnk. | RE: Profile issues on some computers
If you have profile-download problems, the first thing to check is that the network connection itself is reliable. Try XCOPYing a large batch of files. http://mylogon.net/support/psave -------------------------- "This is a wonderful computer. It''s 20yrs old and absolutely reliable. And, in all that time it''s only had four mobos, six processors, two cases, seven OS''s ...." "JoshLTG" wrote: > Short version: 1-machine AD domain, served by Windows 2003. <snip 30,000 pages...> |
