Stack based buffer; physical memory dump; blue screen of death hel

Hi
A few days ago, I accidentally downloaded a dodgy Active X off a website. It
downloaded tons of spyware, malware - the usual tricks. I used my Spybot S&D
to get rid of what I thought was all of the spyware.

Afterwards, I used Adaware (by Lavasoft) to remove anything else, but
halfway through, I got this blue screen of death:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage
to your computer.

A driver has overrun a stack-based buffer. This overrun could potentially
allow
a malicious
user to gain control of this machine.

If this is the first time you've seen this error screen,
restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow
these steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed.
If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer
for any windows updates you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware
or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.
If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart
your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup options, and then
select Safe Mode.

Technical information:

Physical memory dump complete.
Contact your system administrator or technical support group for further
assistance.

Anyway, I tried deleting all of the Active X's that I had downloaded, but I
still got this problem. And I tried Spybot / AdAware in Safe MOde to give
the same outcome.

And, in frustration, I tried a System Restore, but I still get the blue
screen of death, so it never actually finishes.

I'm completely baffled now, so please, any kind of assistance would be
appreciated.

Im not very good with any technical computing either, so please can you give
me any details in easy to folllow instructions.

Regards
