Access is Denied After Reinstall - Already reset permissions

I have reinstalled Windows XP Home and i did not had any issue in installing it. However, after backing up files after logging in as administrator in backup/owner/mydocuments folder. I am not able to access them as regular user, it comes up with an error message saying "Access is Denied". I can change permissions for each individual file but there are more than 1000 files in all. I want to know if there is anything i can do to unlock the whole folder rather than unlocking the files individually.

You can add ownership of the parent folder for an user account in the same place where you see ownership option. You will have to check mark folders/files to inherit permissions from the parent folder. Just try it out and let me know if it helps, best of luck. In case you have any queries further you can feel free to ask.
