Cannot Install .Net Framework 3.0 with Win XP SP2

I’m having a Windows XP desktop at office running with Service Pack 2. It already have .Net 1.1 and 2.0 installed but since yesterday I’m trying to install .Net Framework 3.0 and yet unsuccessful.

Whenever I trying running the installer, it gets failed with a simple error message saying “Installation Failed.” However there is a huge log in the MSI log. I can post the same if required.

Any help please?

I can suggest you two ways of getting rid to this. First, uninstall both the installed versions of .Net and start installing again from scratch. Also better do this by manually downloading it from Microsoft. Secondly, make sure your Antivirus is disabled before you start the installation.

You will need to first remove all instances listed in Add and Remove programs related to Microsoft Net Framework. Restart the computer. Now follow the instructions provided to install them at Microsoft's KB article 923100. Once done, don’t forget to run Windows update to get all the latest and required security updates.
