How to create a password on my wireless router

I have got Linksys wireless router set up by my locale but i need to secure the network with a password so that other cannot use it. I don't have much knowledge about router settings and all, the locale who has set up the network is out of town and i cant contact him anymore. So is there anyone who can help me in assigning a password to the network???

Since you are having Linksys router why don't you contact your technical support rather than contacting your locale.

You can try referring to the below steps.

• Open a browser type http://192.168.1.1 in addressbar type, you will get a Linksys router's login screen. You will have to enter username as blank and password as admin.
• Once you get the router's configuration utility page click on the Administration link and Enter new password and you are done.
