| Unable to register dll
Win XP SP2, fully patched (except IE7), no malware. Am unable to register a dll using Regsvr32, get 0x8007005 error which indicates rights issue. Cannot register as user with admin rights, or under computer admin login, or even as admin in safe mode. All ideas/suggestions appreciated. TIA |

What *.dll files? Maybe they were/are in use. Did you try to unregister them first? Sometimes you have to unregister and then register a file. I don't know why. -- Hope this helps. Let us know. | Re: Unable to register dll
Wesley, Thanks and sorry for the delay. Took me a while to get back on that system. Imagine, a user expecting to be able to work on his own computer... Anyway, unregister didn't work. .dll file is from Autodesk, specific file for large format printer we have. Newly installed software, so I doubted .dll was in use. I was typing reply earlier and commenting on how I had checked permissions on many files, folders etc, when I realized I hadn't checked registry. Found that permissions were hosed on HKCR; fixed them, rebooted and was able to register .dll. After some other frustrations, software is working and computer even seems to be running faster! Life is good - or at least getting better!
