Unable to download Windows XP updates.

After checking automatic updates it lets me download the updates,
however it will not install them. I get a message that says "Do not
have permission to install Windows XP updates, please contact system
admistrator." I have logged in as administrator and I still cannot
install the updates. Is there a workaround or do I have to change the
registry to allow for these updates to be accepted? Please

I am having the same problem and think my problem may be related to the fact
that I cannot add the update sites to my "trusted sites" under the Internet
Properties tab. Evidentally our network administrator has put a restriction
on who can access the "trusted sites" settings. I also am the
"administrator" but it doesn't help. I am trying to sort things out thru a
Microsoft help person now. Good luck!

Mel,

I am the network administrator and I have not put any blocks on this
account, matter of fact I have about 15 computers in the building and
I cannot install the updates on any of the computers in building. I
have put them on the trusted web sites and I am still having
problems. I have no problem downloading the files, I just cannot
install them. Please, if you get an answer from the Microsoft help
person will you please pass the information on to me, so that I can
get this problem resolved....
