Ports Open On Windows 2003 Server

I am using exchange 2003 SP3 / windows 2003 SP1 server and i have found that port 21 ftp is open even though i have not installed ftp. I don't know why is it opened. I want to know if i can close port 42 NAMESERVER? Will i face any issue if it close it???

Re: Ports Open On Windows 2003 Server

If you are talking about this than i will like to inform you that Windows Firewall block port 42/udp by default.

Port Number: 42/udp (Windows 7/Windows Vista/ Windows XP/Windows Server family)
    Host Name Server
    Protocol Used : nameserver
    Service Type : nameserver
    Known Port 42/udp exploits: Yes
Known Port 42/udp Security Risks: Yes

If it is not blocked in your case than you can block it through firewall, It wont cause any harm.
