Update error 0x643 (KB979906) Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 - Automatic update

I am not able to install KB 979906 but when i go in to history lookup i see it displaying .NET framework 3.5 SP1 (KB 982168) was successfully installed. However automatic updates wants to re-install again and fails. I don't know whats going wrong in my system, what should i do???
