Windows XP automatically logon even after logoff

Hi, I’ve a windows XP computer at my home which I had set to logon automatically without prompting for username and password. I actually did this settings to logon only when PC is started or Re-started (Boot/reboot). It was working exactly how I wanted until yesterday.

Yesterday I installed few softwares that I required for a project and since then whenever I even log off the computer it gets log in again. Hope you guys understood the problem. Automatic Logon was set only when booted or rebooted and not when logged off.

The very simple process to prevent logon while logging off is to hold shift key while logging off your system. if that wont work, you can also do this from a registry. Just navigate to the following location:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Created a new key here named as ForceAutoLogon and set the value as 0.

Thats it.
