MS Security Essentials and Windows Defender

I’ve downloaded Microsoft Security Essentials and was just about to install. But before I go for the same I wanted to know few things about MSE and Windows built-in Windows Defender. Do both of these security suites have their unique way and choice of detecting malware and viruses?

Will it be better to run both MSE and WD on same PC at a same time?

First of all I don’t think it is possible to run both MSE and WinDefen at the same time, Infact when you will install Microsoft Security, it will disable Windows Defender automatically. I have tried this on my Vista laptop. I read somewhere that Microsoft Security essentials contains Windows Defender in it with some extra stuffs. So, there is no need to run both of them. MSE is enough.

That is absolutely correct Fawiza. MSE protects your system against viruses, spyware, and other potentially unwanted software. Whereas windows defender only protects for Spyware. So if you have MSE, you dont need Windows Defender, nor OneCare.
