MS Security Essentials and Windows Defender

I'm wondering if there would be any additional benefit to running both
MSSSE and WinDef on the same computer. Is WD simply a sub-set of MSSE?
Or do they have two different ways of detecting malware, or use
different definitions?

On my Vista system installing MSSE disabled WD. I believe MSSE contains WD and more.

However, this doesn't directly answer the question, although I'm
thinking that you are correct--that if you have MSSE you don't need
