| Mandatory Profile Nightmares!
This is my first post on this forum. I am having a whale of a time setting up Mandatory Profiles on my network. I have 2 DC, one running 2008, the other running 2003. I have computers running Xp and Vista. I have all of my users set to create their own profiles in a network share creatively titled "profiles". I have a user profile titled "kids" that was created by logging on as "kids" on an xp machine, and I have a folder called "kids.v2" which was created by logging on as "kids" on a vista machine. This seems to be normal from what I understand. The weird part happens when I try to make these profiles Mandatory. In the xp created folder, "kids", it has the file ntuser.dat that you would expect to see. I can change it to ntuser.man and it makes that profile mandatory. All is good. The problem is that inside of my "kids.v2" folder there is no file called ntuser.dat. I have a file called ntuser.ini, but renaming that doesnt do anything. Has anybody seen this before? I'm certain I'm not the first person to deal with this. Please Help!! |

| Re: Mandatory Profile Nightmares!
If possible ditch using manatory profiles. With Windows 2008 you can do SO much now with Group Policy instead. In your case I would suggest managing Group Policy on the Windows 2008 DC. Install the CSE updates on your computers so they can take advantage of all the new Group Policy options. Redirected Folders can be used if there is a need to have user documents/desktop replicated to server. |
