| Windows Product Activation
I had my XP computer up and running. I had a startup problem and used my XP disk to repair the opsys, but a problem has developed. After the repair when the computer starts up I get a Windows Product Activation dialog: "The copy of Windows must be activated with Microsoft before you can log on. Do you want to activate Windows now?" When I select 'YES', I get another dialog that says' "Microsoft Feeds Synchronization has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." I then get a dialog to report the problem after the error report is complete the system just hangs up. Is there anyway to fix this problem without doing a fresh install of the opsys? -- comprogrammer |

It should appear on your monitor when you are asked to validate. --- Leonard Grey Errare humanum est compprogrammer wrote: > Thanks, you wouldn't happen to have that # handy or know from where I can get > it? |

I figured it would come if I could run the computer I am having the problem with but since I could not log on; the validate messagebox comes up as soon as click after entering the password. After I click the OK button it never completes bootup so that I am at the desktop. -- comprogrammer "Leonard Grey" wrote: > It should appear on your monitor when you are asked to validate. > --- > Leonard Grey > Errare humanum est > > compprogrammer wrote: > > Thanks, you wouldn't happen to have that # handy or know from where I can get > > it? > |

I'll bet you can find the phone number on Microsoft's website. ;-) --- Leonard Grey Errare humanum est compprogrammer wrote: > I figured it would come if I could run the computer I am having the problem > with but since I could not log on; the validate messagebox comes up as soon > as click after entering the password. You might lose, I have not found it so far. Plenty of info on the process and where to find it on the computer. I thought about trying one of my other computers, but figured since they were already activated I would not get anywhere. -- comprogrammer "Leonard Grey" wrote: > I'll bet you can find the phone number on Microsoft's website. ;-) > --- > Leonard Grey > Errare humanum est > > compprogrammer wrote: > > I figured it would come if I could run the computer I am having the problem > > with but since I could not log on; the validate messagebox comes up as soon > > as click after entering the password. | Re: Windows Product Activation
I have a similar issue that maybe someone can help with. I've upgraded my MB & CPU. It wouldn't boot up so I did a Repair install. There are a couple of details I'll leave out for now, incase they are irrelavent. It now boots to the login screen. I type my password and get a message box that says I must activate this copy of Windows before I can log in. If you say No, it goes back to the login. If you say yes, it goes to the desktop and puts up my background and nothing else. It is hung at that point, I can move the cursor around, but nothing else happens. I can't even get task manager up with Alt-Ctrl-Del. The only thing to do is hit the rest button and start over. I suspect that it is trying to connect to the internet, but it won't be able to because I haven't even been able to add the MB drivers yet. Nor any Windows updates. I've spent hours searching from another computer for answers and the closest answers all say call it in. The call in feature is not an option given by my computer, and no corresponding code is generated for use if I do call. Anyhelp would be appreciated. |

Nevermind. I retried the repair install and now it's working better. |
