windows defender 0x800106ba

I have read all I can find on the error 0x800106ba and I cant find where to
uninstall windows defenter to reinstall. I have windows vista home premium
and defender came installed when I bought my computer. I have the macafee
total protection installed. The error code has been comming up for the last
few days when I turn the computer on. When I go to the programs installed I
do not see the windows defender listed but in the security center it is
installed. I dont know a whole lot about this kind of stuff so any help
would be helpful. Thanks

I just found on macafee that the 2009 security suite will not work with
windows defender and it gives you a way to dissable WD. Is that a good idea
or not? After reading some of the things on here Iam not sure. I will wait
till I hear your comments befor I do anymore about it. Thanks

If you want to rely on McAfee's anti-spyware component, follow McAfee's
advice.

If you'd rather rely on Windows Defender, (a) do Steps #1 and #2 (only) of
this three-step fix: http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507,
(b) enable the Windows Firewall, (c) reboot, and (d) install another
anti-virus application or security suite of your choice (but not a Norton or
McAfee application).
