my parents have a dell tower running windows XP with McAfee full security
(firewall.virus.spyware...etc etc..) and with spywareblaster in the
background....but recently this Internet Antivirus Pro was somehow added and
.....McAfee did not recognize the irritating proble...this Internet Antivirus
Pro mimics other security software and asks to buy the updated software for
Internet Antivirus Pro from some obscure site.....

went to Windows Live OneCare and used this...but was unable to remove 2
infections out of 11 apparenlty

Re: whats the deal w/ Internet Antivirus Pro?

You are infected. Internet Antivirus Pro is a malware. Use the following to remove
it.

before scanning your pc, make sure you have up-to-date mcafee version. alternatively you can try to remove internet security pro with spyware doctor

You may consider the post as a spam, but spyware doctor does remove the program - it's tested!

is there any information in the link you posted, telling that spyware doctor will remove Internet Antivirus Pro? No...

RE: whats the deal w/ Internet Antivirus Pro?

Is fake/rogue application called " Internet Antivirus Pro&quot

Tools that can fix the problem would be:
-SUPERAntiSpyware (SAS)
-Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (MBAM)
-Windows Live OneCare (WLOC)
-Windows Malicious Software Tool (WMRT)

-=-

A very good antimalware app is SUPERAntiSpyware.
-=-

Try running Malwarebytes Anti-Malware... download, update, and perform a
full system scan.
-=-

Windows Live OneCare online scan
<http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/tryscanner.htm>
Look for Protection, the broom Clean up, also Tune Up..
-=-

Windows Malicious Software Tool
<http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=ad724ae0-e72d-4f54-9ab3-75b8eb148356&displaylang=en>

I'd recommend re-downloading Microsoft® Windows® Malicious Software Removal
Tool (KB890830), and saving to a known location--like the desktop
Once the download completes close all open programs and browseяs.

Now run the downloaded file [ if the edition of Windows is Vista, then
*яight* click it and choose 'Run as administrator'.
Follow the prompts to allow it to run ].

Run a full scan.
-=-

Have you done any scans within safe mode ?

Restart in safe mode and scan with both updated, your Antivirus, (MBAM),
(SAS), (WMRT) and (WLOC)

Unexplained computer behavior may be caused by deceptive software

I hope this post is helpful.

Let us know how it works ºut.

Did you mean "Malicious Software Removal Tool" (MSRT) from Microsoft?

Be nice, English isn't his native tongue. (But what he used was better than
"Malicious Windows Software Removal Tool" which I've seen others use.)

Re: whats the deal w/ Internet Antivirus Pro?

I wasn't trying to be mean. :o)

Mostly posted to allow him correct the name so that someone doesn't find
some rogue app taking advantage of name confusion instead of the 'real
deal' from MS.

No, I haven't seen a rogue app doing this (yet).

Re: whats the deal w/ Internet Antivirus Pro?

PA Bear has a point you know!

I'm sure you noticed the foreign (Chinese/Japanese/Asian) hieroglyphics
at the top of the page. Maybe it is a genuine, bonio fido, site - I have
no idea ...... and I don't suppose you know either!

You then expect folk to click on a link within the text which may (or
may well NOT) take one to the genuine PC Tools site.

Far, far, better to type the URL of PC Tools directly into the address
bar of your browser.
