| can't access Windows update
I can't seem to connect to Windows Update. My computer is set to "on" for automatic updates, but if I try to go to the website through a browser I get the page that says Internet Explorer can't display page. I've tried from several different links in several different websites and I get the same result every time. I run Windows XP home with service pack 2(I think). Any help anyone can provide is greatly appreciated. |

To find out what service pack you have (you need SP 2 to use Windows Update): Control Panel > System --- Leonard Grey Errare humanum est Dana wrote: > I can't seem to connect to Windows Update. | Re: can't access Windows update
I'm having a similar problem. In addition to being unable to reset Windows to automatically update, I can't seem to change my internet settings to a higher level of security. Internet explorer is also opening new windows spontaneously. I believe I had SP 3 prior to this issue. Definitely had a minimum of SP 2 and have used the auto update website many times before. Any suggestions? This is really confounding me. I'd reinstall Explorer if the problem did not also include the ability to change security settings.
