Windows Security Center no longer recognizes McAfee Virus Protection

My Windows Security Center no longer recognizes McAfee virus protector. It
does recognize the other McAfee components and everyting in McAfee is turned
on.

I installed software for Rhapsody as part of my software for my new MP3
player. This problem occured the next day.

And what did McAfee Support have to say about this when you asked them?

Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting your hijackthis log
to an appropriate forum.

Checking for/Help with Hijackware

When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2 is the preferred tool to use (in
conjunction with some other utilities). HijackThis will NOT fix anything on
its own, but it will help you to both identify and remove any
hijackware/spyware with assistance from an expert. **Post your log to or another appropriate forum for review
by an expert in such matters, not here.**

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA or Geek Squad) computer repair shop.

Please contact Microsoft PC Safety, 866 727 2338 ( get them by Skype so you
may have a documented root cause from Microsoft side if ever Mcafee decline
your request of assistance if ever it was caused by their product.

And why are you replying to my post?

sometimes the windows security center repository gets corrupted. it's a
known security center bugs which occurs quite frequently with any security
software.

Try this:

1. Temporarily disable the WMI service (Windows management instrumentation)
in: Start >Run > type: services.msc and it in there find/stop WMI

2. Now delete the C:\windows\system32\wbem\repository Folder

3. Restart the WMI service and restart the computer

Where is the C:\windows\system32\wbem\repository folder located?

Seriously?

That's the path.

Start button --> RUN --> Type In:
"%SystemRoot%\System32\wbem\repository"
--> Click OK.
