| Windows automatic update getting disabled on startup
In my Windows security settings, the Automatic updates tab is going off even if I set it ON manytimes. Subsequently an anti virus ( which changes it's name time to time like Anivirus 2009 etc) opens up to window warning me that there are 40 viruses in My Pc and to run their anti virus SW to remove them , the SW costs 49 USD. how to get rid of them, I have Kaspersky 2009 Anti virus installed in my PC. |

Your computer is infected. Removal instructions are here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/malw...antivirus-2009 Quite frankly, given that you managed to let your computer become infected despite the presence of an excellent antivirus program, you should not attempt removal. Leave that to a professional. --- Leonard Grey Errare humanum est "A Day in the Life of a Web 2.0 Hacker" - PC Magazine http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2330952,00.asp praveen sarat wrote: > In my Windows security settings, the Automatic updates tab is going off even > if I set it ON manytimes. Thank you for your quick reply Mr Leonard, I did not load the program .The pop up trouble loads on it's own. However the Kaspersky 2009 anti virus should block this if it is a good one ( I update it regularly )rather than allowing it to load and remove on a scan. Could you please suggest something to stop the Automatic updates tab is going off Thanks "Leonard Grey" wrote: > Your computer is infected. The pop-up loads on its own because your computer is infected. It is to your credit that resisted installing the program. --- Leonard Grey Errare humanum est "A Day in the Life of a Web 2.0 Hacker" - PC Magazine http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2330952,00.asp praveen sarat wrote: > Thank you for your quick reply Mr Leonard, > I did not load the program .The pop up trouble loads on it's own. You system is infected with Malware. Kaspersky is an antivirus program they are two different things. Use my Remove-it software, it will remove that malware from your system. Choose yes for all options when prompted. Download it here http://pcbutts1.com/downloads/tools/tools.htm. After running Remove-it if your auto update tab is still not working then post back and let me know I have another tool to fix that. -- Cyberstalking is a crime. If you had one as bad as I did simply ignoring them is not an option. Unexplained computer behavior may be caused by deceptive software http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827315 Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting your hijackthis log to an appropriate forum. Checking for/Help with Hijackware http://aumha.org/a/parasite.htm http://aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?t=5878 http://wiki.castlecops.com/Malware_R...:_Introduction http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/data/prevention.htm http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/tshoot.html http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/Malware_Defence.htm http://defendingyourmachine2.blogspot.com/ http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/...moving_Malware When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2 (http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe) is the preferred tool to use (in conjuction with some other utilities). HijackThis will NOT fix anything on its own, but it will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware with assistance from an expert. **Post your log to http://spywarehammer.com/simplemachi...php?board=10.0, http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22, http://aumha.net/viewforum.php?f=30, or another appropriate forum for review by an expert in such matters, not here.** If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA or Geek Squad) computer repair shop. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Desktop Experience - since 2002 AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ praveen sarat wrote: > In my Windows security settings, the Automatic updates tab is going off > even > if I set it ON manytimes. Keep very far away from anything recommended by pcbutts. This malicious troll is well-known for malware, obscenity and pornography. Because this is an unmoderated public newsgroup, it's virtually impossible to ban posts from pcbutts. Leonard Grey is a troll who cannot fix your system. He is jealous of the fact that I can. He can't prove what he says about me and my software because it is not true. The guy is an idiot. To every one who sees this message. Please do not go through the link provided by Leonard Grey, to fix this malware (Antivirus 2009 or what ever it is...) I don't have any solution for now but don't go through with this guy, you will be in more trouble. Hey Leonard Grey, I don't know who you are... But I took your steps to remove the malware from my system, when my automatic updates got disabled. But to my surprise you turned out be another malware. your mbam-setup.exe said that it had removed 41 infected files but when I rebooted my laptop, it started to ignore my login credentials. I had to call the Lenovo custmoer support to fix my system. Thanks ! -Madhu |

This one? http://download.bleepingcomputer.com...mbam-setup.exe It is the real deal, sorry you had problems with it (if indeed it was caused by this program). You should direct your anger at them, not Leonard or anyone else that recommmends them. If there is a known issue and a fix for it, they would know. There is nothing wrong with the link or procedures therein which Leonard posted: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/malw...antivirus-2009 There is nothing wrong with MBAM or using it. However, MBAM very often does not/cannot remove all infectors associated with XP Antivirus 2009. If you'd read the *rest* of the instructions on that page, you would have seen: <QP> If you are still having problems with your computer after completing these instructions, then please follow the steps outlined in the topic linked below: Preparation Guide For Use Before Posting A Hijackthis Log http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic34773.html </QP> -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Desktop Experience - since 2002 AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ busypirate wrote: > To every one who sees this message. > Please do not go through the link provided by Leonard Grey, to fix this > malware (Antivirus 2009 or what ever it is...)
