Unable to run any tools...getting an error "not a valid win32 application"

any ideas/...doesnt have any symptoms of infection....

is it caused by somekind of trojan?

status of the machine? If you think it is clean, what programs (and

Usually this happens if someone edited the data of PE section in exe file,
but did not updated the appropriated section sizes and RVAs. So it could be
a buggy virus or tool.

I copied and pasted it into my browser (AOL) and I arrived at "not a valid
win32 application" results (375,000 items)

I then typed "not a valid win32 application" into Google and ended up here:-

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&r...on&btnG=Search

I seem to have ended up with exactly the same 375,000 items!

I'm always interested in when I find the 'unusal' happening on my PC. I'd
much appreciate ideas on why these different links take me to the same
place.

Because in each case you're still going to Google search...
I get a different amount of results (depends on what you input as your
search operators) by typing:
"Not a valid win32 application" error
Results 1 - 10 of about 114,000 for "Not a valid win32 application"
error.

Hello jen - thanks for answering.

I noticed that Peter Foldes link has 'sourceid=navclient&ie' which I think,
after a brief while 'Googling', might well be associated with a Toolbar
(but not that of Google itself).

My own link has 'search?hl=en&rls'

I searched that phrase in Yahoo Answers and ended up here:
http://answers.yahoo.com/search/sear...Fhl%3Den%26rls

A somewhat surprising set of answers (22) should anyone care to examine
them!

I note that jen may well have used Firefox as his/her browser .......... and
also included the word 'error' in their search.

It *is* magic - nothing is ever quite as straightforward as it seems at
first sight! ;)

Check the amount of FREE space that you have. If the free space is low, it is quite possible your last download got chopped and you would not have gotten the full file. If that is the case, you would see the "not a valid win32 application" message.
