    Default Search Engine protection

Whenever I started Internet Explorer on Windows XP Pro based laptop, always get a message saying something about Default Search Engine Protection. It says that an unknown application is trying to change my default search engine. I always select to keep this search engine as my default but on next restart I get the same again.

I don’t know what could be wrong because I have very good security on this PC, scanned the complete system, also ran many checks but nothing helped. Do you guys have any idea what could be wrong?

I doubt it is any of your plugins creating the problem. Just launch your Internet Explorer, go to Tools, click Internet Options > Programs > Manage Add-Ons. Here look if you can find any malicious Add-on. If you don’t find anything wrong here, just go back to Internet Options click Advanced and Click Reset.

That’s it. It should work fine now but for satisfaction, will suggest you run Spybot once.

Thanks for the solution Amosz. I was also struggling with the same error and as per your instructions I found that the problem was with an add-on. I just removed the same and issue disappeared.
