| Sony Plug'n'Play Keyboard not recognised & other driver oddities I have a Sony VGP-WKB1 Wireless Keyboard and Mouse which is plug 'n' play compatible with any WinXP machine. When I connect the USB receiver to the laptop, device manager detects a "RF Receiver". When I try to auto-install the driver, it finds nothing and gives up. Sony can supply no CD-ROM or driver download because they are adamant it is included with XP as standard. I have noticed some other drivers not auto-installing although I can't be sure, as I always had their driver CD to hand. Is there some way to repair the driver database in XP without losing any other settings or updates? It's a fairly new machine but I've customised it a lot. Alternatively anyone able to point me to the driver download for a keyboard/mouse "RF Receiver"? -- Thanks, CJSnet Recommended: * http://search.superhighstreet.com - Finds anything or they pay! * http://www.superhighstreet.com & http://www.oxfordstreet.com - Beat the crowds with Virtual Streetscapes [remove 'teeth' to e-mail me] |

Not to worry, solved this as follows: Show hidden files Instead of letting Windows auto-install the driver, specify the location c:\windows\inf and let it manually search It does this 5 times, finding USB Composite Device, then the HID keyboard & mouse. -- Thanks, CJSnet Recommended: * http://search.superhighstreet.com - Finds anything or they pay! * http://www.superhighstreet.com & http://www.oxfordstreet.com - Beat the crowds with Virtual Streetscapes [remove 'teeth' to e-mail me] "CJSnet" <usenet@TEETHthe-simpson.tv> wrote in message news:%23Oeq07fVHHA.4028@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... > Hi all, hope someone is able to help. > > I have a Sony VGP-WKB1 Wireless Keyboard and Mouse which is plug 'n' play > compatible with any WinXP machine. > > When I connect the USB receiver to the laptop, device manager detects a > "RF Receiver".
