XP Dual Core USB MIDI driver problem

THANK YOU!!!!!! I have been fighting XP for months trying to get my Korg M1 talking to my computer again, and this worked BEAUTIFULLY! Sure beats a re-install of XP! Thank you again, you're my new hero!

To anyone using a MIDI to USB cable like the ones you find on eBay, use this method!

Hi all, is the problem definately the logitech webcam, I bought a midi to usb converter on ebay and can't use it with my electronic drums, I have a dell dual core windows xp media center edition PC and I DONT have a WEBCAM. Is the upper and lower registry thing your supposed to delete just the name of the string bcos I don't see either in my registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Is there anything I can do or delete to fix this problem ??. I know nothin bout this I got to this page via google. Is windows xp media center a problem too ?. The device shows up under usb outputs in cubase and windows, sounds and audio devices under midi playback as usb [2]. I want it to show up as a midi input or at least an input. I'd really appreciate any advice.

You are likely going to need to contact the OEM for the MIDI/USB adapter.
The adapter driver is one issue, and the applications software another.
I have used both Yahama and Voyetra Midi adapters (Active USB/MIDI cables)
without a major problem.
The Voyetra adapter seems to be discontinued, unfortunately. That's a shame,
since it does work with Win 7.

Same problem, trying fruitlessly to get my USB-Midi cable to communicate between my Korg PA-50 and Sonar, despite Device Manager telling me everything was OK. This on a Toshiba A120 laptop with Intel single-core and XP SP2. Yet it works OK with my L300 laptop running Vista. Now, with Tito Pulpo's simple registry modification, my no-brand Chinese USB-Midi interface works fine on the A120 as well. Many thanks! I can stop tearing my hair out.

Would things change if I upgraded to SP3?
