Application popup: Windows - Virtual Memory Minimum Too Low

I am having around 6 systems in my lab. Among them some are on Windows XP Pro and some are on Windows 2000. The system that I use has Windows 2000. All are working well, except mine. I am constantly getting a popup message on my screen about low virtual memory. I had notice the same on other Windows 2000 system also. The message indicates about low virtual memory in the system. When I click on OK the message disappear. I had done no changes recently which can trigger the error. Any help or explanation on the same will be helpful.

There is nothing to worry much about it. It is a common issue. There might be certain applications which needs more system ram. And your physical ram will be lower. So Windows tries to increase the page file and run the existing process. You can fix the issue by removing resource intensive application or simply adding more ram to your system. You can check in Task Manager which application or process is eating too much resources. If it is a essential application then you can leave it or else you can terminate the process and remove it from startup also. Windows is just trying to use some of your empty hard drive space to initiate a program.
