"The instruction at "0x77fcaff8" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "written".

While running defragmentation I am getting a error on Windows 2000. The error is associated with drfgfat.exe. I am having a single partition on my system. It is a FAT32 partition. Whenever I run defragmentation to get a bit better performance there are series of error generated. The error code is 0x77fcaff8. It is the only server I am having at my office. I do not have any installation disc also. I hope this is not a serious problem. Thanks.

You can try some third party software which can help you. It looks that defrag utility in your system is not working properly which is causing the failure. Go and check in Microsoft Management Console for the list of errors. It will help you to troubleshoot the problem in more detailed way. For the time being you can use some small third party software which are capable of providing you better support.
