| Ghost image - IDE Hard drive to SATA hard drive
I have an image of Windows 2000 Pro SP4 that is working perfectly on an IDE hard drive. As soon as I transfer it over to a SATA hard drive, I get a blue screen upon windows boot up. So I booted to the IDE hard drive again and did some investigating. What I noticed is that, although in device manager it says that I have "Serial ATA" storage controller drivers installed, windows disk manager shows that my SATA hard drives only show up to a max of 128 GB... in actuality, they are 500+ GB. So I'm thinking I don't have the right SATA drivers... Please help! |

You need to run a repair installation of win using the F6 option to install sata drivers from floppy. You also need to ensure that the bios supports this hd size <laphlaw@gmail.com> wrote in message news:1160081346.083783.83320@c28g2000cwb.googlegroups.com... > I have an image of Windows 2000 Pro SP4 that is working perfectly on an > IDE hard drive. I'm assuming the SATA interface is part of the motherboard chipset, so you have to enable 48-bit LBA access by sticking EnableBigLba in the registry as described in 48-Bit LBA Support for ATAPI Disk Drives in Windows 2000 <http://support.microsoft.com/kb/305098/en-us>. |
