HD audio bus drivers - freshly loaded IBM t60/t42 or other

I have run into this issue with both the t42 and t60 laptops from IBM/Lenovo.
When you try to install the audio drivers downloaded from there website you
get a message "The HDA Audio bus driver is required and not found.". They
are not kind enough to point to a location where you can actually download
this driver. After many Google searches and digging around on MS’s poor
excuse for a website, I found I needed KB888111. In there infinite wisdom
and keeping in tune with there overall poor site design MS didn’t offer a
download link. Fortunately before formatted the factory IBM load I made a
ghost image of it. I was able to find the file 88811us.exe buried in c:\
IBMTOOLS\DRIVERS\UAAHDA2K, which did the trick. I hope this post can help
save someone else some time. Nothing like a 1 hour sound driver install to
end the day!

Did you find that file anywhere else? I am actually looking for it for
XP.

If you have access to the factory load you will find the XP file in c:\
IBMTOOLS\DRIVERS\UAAHDAXP\. There are two sub directories, xpsp1 and xpsp2,
the file is named 888111us.exe in each.

Hi, the same problem comes to me and it is not done till now. I am searching the 888111US.exe for months. I am an orthopedic surgeon in China. My IBM/Lenov Thinkpad Z60t was preloaded with Microsoft Windows SP2 in Chinese version. Now, I load my thinkpad with Microsft Windows SP2 in English version, and the 888111SC.exe in Chinese Version does not work, and I can not find a thinkpad preloaded with English version Windows. I hope you can do me a favor by emailing me the 888111US.exe to finish my HD audio bus driver setup. My email is mazhensheng@hotmail.com

Hi All, im new here. After much pain and heart ache, I was found the HDA file and needed to post it. After installation, I was able to install the SoundMax audio driver and modem on my IBM T60.

Try searching the lenovo website for the OS hotfix (osfx31us.exe)

Thank you for your piece of advice. I did try to install the modem by running"c:\drivers\HDAMODEM\Setup.exe" but it gave error "could not find device for this driver". Pls advice on what I can do next? johnson(todemltd@gmail.com)

i had the same problem, you can't install your audio driver first, the hd audio is connected with you modem for some reason so you have to install your modem first. i had the same problem with my t60.

did you try to install your modem manually?

by right clicking my computer, properties, hardware tab, device manager, click on the yellow question mark, update driver. select choose from a specific location, and browse, c:\drivers\HDAMODEM

exactly how many errors do you have on your computer or how many drivers do you have that is not yet installed?
