After the publication of an experimental version in June, the extension AdBlock Plus is now available in final form for the Internet Explorer browser.
After Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari and even Android, AdBlock Plus will now prompt officially on Microsoft's browser. The extension to hide advertising on Web pages, is particularly popular and is being used by 6-7% of Internet users.
The company boasts more than 200 million downloads in total, including 10 million installations on Chrome and 60 million active users in total, 14.8 million on Firefox. Tim Schumacher, Director of Communications of Adblock Plus explained that in December to carry out this work on IE, the company had to buy another existing solution, which was: "need to be optimized in particular by filtering ads acceptable to us."
In an official statement, the company says that this add-on is now compatible with all versions of Windows and precise "and like all extensions for Windows 8, Internet Explorer must be run from the desktop and not from the Metro interface to function properly."
