MagicPlay launched by DoubleTwist for android, an alternative to Apple's AirPlay

The DoubleTwist media player will soon be equipped with the MagicPlay, to provide users of Android a functionality similar to Apple's AirPlay.

During the last MWC, DoubleTwist has announced the development of MagicPlay, based on the development platform of Qualcomm's AllJoyn. And it seems to work visibly great, as the site The Verge was able to test this feature without seeing cuts during a change of music, while the audio quality seems a little better than via a Bluetooth connection (like AirPlay, MagicPlay uses the Wi-Fi network).

Currently, the video streaming is not yet in included. But MagicPlay has however a significant advantage against AirPlay: that of having an open-source code, to be distributed free to all developers.

However, what made the success of AirPlay is probably the accession of the industry to protocol therefore it is also required that manufacturers like MagicPlay decide to take this into consideration.

So, it can be said that in the similar way like AirPlay, MagicPlay will also let us listen to music or show a movie streaming from our device on our TV, home theater or other devices. This application may not please Apple because MagicPlay is open source and it gives a good advantage over its counterpart called AirPlay. However, we should not rush knowing that we do not know enough about MagicPlay yet.
