Sony recently completed its range of smartphones with a new model, called the "Xperia ZR".
The Sony Xperia ZR incorporates many of the features of the Xperia Z, starting with its IP58 waterproofing (can be submerged to 1.5 m for 30 min), but in a slightly smaller format. It has a 4.6-inch HD Reality LCD screen. In exchange, the definition changes from Full HD to HD, which may actually prove to be an advantage (graphics more fluid for equal components).
Unfortunately the borders are not as thin and the surface of the device is less than 12%, while the thickness increases significantly, since going from 139x71x7.9 mm to 131x67.4x10.4 mm.
Anyway, the device inherits acklit CMOS Exmor RS sensor exposed to 13 million pixels of its predecessor, shooting in Full HD. It has a Snapdragon S4 Pro chip, a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm APQ8064 quad-core CPU in this case, 2 GB of RAM but only 8GB of internal memory, expandable via a microSDHC card (for up to 32 GB). The connector includes NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS and Glonass and 4G LTE through a Qualcomm chip MDM9215M. A dock supplied can charge the 2300 mAh battery for this device without having to manipulate the weather cap from the microUSB port.
The Sony Xperia ZR will be sold worldwide by the end of the second quarter of 2013, that is to say by the end of June for a retail price that is not disclosed.
