In addition to its Ultra HD TV 55 and 65 inch Sony at NAB confirmed the launch of a reader and a 4K video service dedicated to the application.
Available since November 2012, the luxurious Ultra HD TV 84 inch of Sony is accompanied by a drive on which dozen of movies in native resolution are preloaded.
Sony benefits from NAB to announce the launch of the commercial version of the media player. Sony FMP-X1 will not be supplied free with new TVs, it will actually be sold.
No technical feature has been provided, it is only known to contain a dozen films, but more importantly it will allow access to Ultra HD video service on demand long-awaited, unlike first model. If any one movies come preloaded from Sony Pictures (or Columbia as subsidiaries), the manufacturer promises that the service will also offer VOD movies other "prominent" studios.
Sony FMP-X1 will be marketed in the United States "this summer" at a retail price of $700. Service video on demand meanwhile will be launched in the autumn.
