Canonical has recently announced that their Ubuntu’s Mobile OS might make it place in Smartphone by 2014. It will be compatible with both x86 and ARM processors. Since Ubuntu is going to be very new in Smartphone, many people might praise the change where as some might complain for the old operating system with just a Smartphone interface. According to sources Ubuntu’s Mobile OS is built on existing Android kernels and drivers. As per the specification Galaxy Nexus is certified for running Ubuntu for Android. Canonical hasn’t released information regarding the tie up between manufacturer and carrier working on Ubuntu’s Mobile OS but Android compatible version of the OS is expected to be available soon. However with the concept of Ubuntu’s Mobile OS, Linux distro might surely attract OEM partners and carrier support.


For now, Galaxy Nexus is the official partner for Ubuntu’s Mobile OS. Canonical’s are having high hopes and they have mentioned that they are working hard on an ARM version of Ubuntu for servers with their team.
