Facebook Messenger 2.0 for iOS Devices Released

Facebook Messenger has recently been updated to version 2.0 on iOS.

Facebook has released its Messenger 2.0 update last Friday, a week after that for Android. It makes the same changes, except the one with the most issues.

Indeed, because of the strict separation between native applications for Apple and third-party applications, Facebook Messenger for iOS can not support SMS. It can not be the only user application for all messaging, which is what Facebook is trying to put on Android.

The application has however the redesign of the conversations and friends list accessible by lateral sliding. There is also the time display from which you can get to know your inactive friends. Finally on iOS, it is now possible to pin the favorite friends.

The dedicated application "Facebook Messenger 2.0" is now available on the App Store, which can be downloaded from here. Compared to its predecessor, it provides its usual batch of optimizations, as well as support for iOS 6 and iPhone 5.

These changes are welcomed by many users as the application had not changed much since its first iteration. The new design of Facebook Messenger is very similar to the chat of the web version of Facebook but with a button in the upper right corner that shows your contacts available.
