Windows 8 packaging Unveiled by Microsoft

The site "The Verge" claims to have got hold of the visuals that represent the next editions of the upcoming Windows 8 packaging.

While most of the distribution of the future Windows 8 will probably pass by the digital channels, Microsoft seems to have opted to not completely ignore the physical world. On The Verge website on Tuesday, the first visual of the two future versions of Windows 8 packaging was released.

It reveals a reduced packaging size compared to previous editions of Windows, available in two versions: Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro, differentiated by the color of the packaging. At this point, it is not clear whether it will be full versions of the operating system (according to rumors, it was said they would be dropped) or simple updates, for an existing installation over Windows Vista or Windows 7. These boxes logically repeat the new Windows logo, inspired by the interface that should not to be called Metro, but emphasized by abstract motifs.

Version dedicated to tablets and other devices with ARM processors, called Windows RT, for its part will not be a packaged version, since access is reserved for manufacturers and integrators (OEM). These physical editions of Windows 8 should logically appear in the distribution on October 26, which is the date of commercial launch of Windows 8.

Re: Windows 8 packaging Unveiled by Microsoft

Last week, Microsoft announced the completion of the development of Windows 8, and a willingness to send it to editorial RTM-OEM-partners. Officially, the distribution will be publicly available on Oct. 26: through online channels and in retail trade, however, this packaged copy of Windows 8 will cost, of course, more expensive than the upgrade in the form of digital distribution.
