Wacom Announced "Cintiq 22HD" and "Cintiq 24HD touch" multi-touch drawing tablet

Wacom recently announced that it had completed its line of "interactive pen displays" with two new models, "Cintiq 22HD" and "Cintiq 24HD touch". Designed for creative professionals, these shelves come at an expensive rate.

    Wacom Cintiq 24HD touch

The "Cintiq 24HD touch", to start of, is a variant of the existing 24HD. As its name suggests, it inherits a 24-inch screen and electromagnetic stylus induction, similar to its predecessor, with an assistance of multipoint capacitive touch.

It thus promises to "simulate the feel of a traditional creation made by using both hands", such as allowing you to draw with one hand and manipulate the virtual work surface on the other, as one would think in reality. Wacom had initially launched this model simultaneously, but the addition of tactile posed some difficulties, especially for the detection of palm, which is necessarily based on a screen of such a surface.

The Cintiq is intended finally to photographers, graphic designers and creators of films for which the color is critical. The Full HD screen has 1.07 billion colors and covers 97% of Adobe RGB color space, to avoid any delay during the project. It is a compensation charged at full price of 3500 euros.

For 1800 euros, the "Cintiq 22HD" also allows designers to work directly on their creations.

Its screen retains a Full HD but it goes to 22 inches, and it does not benefit from multi-touch, but otherwise allow to manipulate the virtual work surface. It is also deprived of tactile strips but retains some control buttons.

The Cintiq 22HD is available for purchase from 10 July 2012 while the Cintiq 24HD touch is expected in August 2012.

Professionals who deal with color-critical work processes, such as photographers, graphic designers, video and film editors and animators and game developers will benefit from faithful color quality. "For a lot of creative work processes, the color calibration is an important basis for the entire project," said Guido Moller.
