AMD, which is looking to remain ahead from NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680, has finally released the Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition, an enhanced version of the Radeon HD 7970 with increased frequency of the GPU and memory, which is also equipped with a combination of technologies that can scale to higher frequencies.
AMD launches a new high-end graphics card, called the Radeon HD 7970 Edition GHz. It is equipped with a chip clocked at 1 GHz and 3 GB of GGDR5 memory which is very fast (3000 MHz), so that you can play PC games on your Full HD or 30 inches monitor, without having to sacrifice on the beauty of the game to gain fluency. The Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition comes with about 13.5% higher GPU frequency and a 9% increase in the frequency as per reports, but these percentage increases are not the only thing that AMD has integrated in this model, it is actually the first high-end AMD technology to incorporate PowerTune Boost technology (PowerTune with Boost), similar to what is apparently called NVIDIA GPU Boost.
The Radeon HD 7970 Edition GHz comes with a GPU base frequency of 1000 MHz, with a boost of 1050 MHz, while the memories come to 1500 MHz, 6000 MHz in other words effectively, offering a bandwidth of 288 GB/s through a 384-bit bus. And if this is compared with the HD 7970 then it only comes with a frequency of 925 MHz GPU, 1375 MHz pair of reports (5500MHz effective) and a bandwidth of 264 GB/s. PowerTune with Boost uses a new algorithm that balances energy efficiently and also temperature in order to provide more possibilities of increasing frequencies. The technology even adjusts the voltages to increase the frequencies (Boost State), all managed within certain limits and parameters to not affect the operation of the GPU.
The price of this monster is not yet known but it's a safe bet that it is around 500 euros.
