    AMD Bulldozer, new details on the Turbo Core

    New details emerge about the technical specifications of the new AMD Bulldozer, a name that indicates the next generation of processors that the company will earmark U.S. for use in high-end desktop systems.     The following are some of the benefits of Turbo Core:
    • up to 500mhz of extra clock speed obtainable with all cores active. This means-even with 16 active cores with server workloads, all cores can enhance at the equivalent time. For those that want customers to make best use of their performance, they now have the tools to do it.
    • even higher boost existing states with half of the active cores. We're not accurately how high stating with AMD processors can boost turbo core, but perceptibly if there is room for up to 500mhz with all cores active, fewer active cores clearly would mean less power, and more headroom to recapture with AMD core turbo. At launch you will observe processors based and marketed with a highest frequency, base will replicate the actual clock speed on the processor and highest will reflect the highest turbo core AMD state.
    • turbo core AMD is deterministic, governed by power draw, not as other temperatures challenging products are. This means that even in warmer climates you'll be able to take benefit of that additional headroom if you choose. This helps to make certain max frequency is workload dependent, making it more consistent and repeatable.

    The clock frequency can be increased up to 500 MHz over the default, even when all available processor cores are used simultaneously. An example are the solutions for Opteron server systems, which will be marketed by AMD's roadmap also in versions with 16-core in-house. Using half of the core provision will be possible to go beyond the limit of 500 MHz mentioned above, but at present it is unclear to what limit because AMD does not intend to indicate with precision, at least for now, what is the margin of increase in provision. The debut release for each processor will be referred to the clock frequency of default and the maximum available through Turbo Core. The intervention of technology, finally, is determined not by the temperature of the processor as required by the type of power that is made to the system from moment to moment by the CPU. This approach can provide higher margins for action in those contexts of use where the ambient temperature is not contained at the start, but the processor has the leeway in terms of power requirements depending on the specific type of processing to be conducted.
