Internet Explorer Security Patch (978207) Released

IE users can update their browser to the device through Microsoft Windows Update.

As promised, Microsoft posted a patch (read the security bulletin from Microsoft) for its Internet browser (versions 6, 7 and 8). Its installation is done without intervention for users who have enabled automatic update of Windows. The others will go through the Windows Update (accessible from the Start menu - All Programs in Windows).

Microsoft also recommends the user of Internet using Internet Explorer 6 or 7 to upgrade to the latest version, 8.0, its browser, supposedly more secure.

Microsoft promises the imminent release of a patch to address the vulnerability of its web browser. Usually the company publishes its updated once a month. But given recent events, the firm founded by Bill Gates to change their habits and customs.

When the "Aurora operation" conducted against Google in China, including hackers have exploited a security hole in Internet Explorer. Following this attack, the German and French authorities advised their citizens to stop using this software until a patch is available.

While the advance publication of the patch, the publisher continues to minimize the risks associated with using their browser. "At this stage, the threats are very limited. And the successful attacks that we know will affect Internet Explorer 6 (...) Given the impact of this situation and it has created confusion among consumers, we will post an update to correct this vulnerability ".

This patch will be available "in the evening" of January 21, 2010, in the words used by Microsoft in a statement issued on Thursday (Update, January 21 at 15.45).

According to Microsoft, this security update resolves a lot of vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer. The most severe vulnerability was the one that allows remote code execution if a user views a specially crafted Web page using Internet Explorer. This basically affect less to those users whose accounts are configured to have fewer user rights on the system compared to the users who operate with administrative user rights.

I just would like to inform your that if you are having automatic updated enabled on your Windows computer then you won't require to take any action since because this security update will be downloaded and installed automatically onto your computer.
